My personality of the week is none other than Adebola Williams, popularly known as Debola Lagos, a Nigerian media mogul, journalist and public speaker whose speech at the inaugural Obama Summit received a standing ovation. Alongside Chude Jideonwo, Adebola Williams is the co-founder of Red Africa, an organisation with interests in public relations, media production, and human development. Red subsidiary companies include YNaija, The Future Awards Africa and StateCraft Inc. The company engages over 30 million youths.
In 2013, Williams was named by Forbes as one of Africa’s best entrepreneurs under 30. Part of his illustrious list of achievement includes being a Mandela Washington Fellow who has helped to get 3 African Presidents elected.
The currency of this generation is talent.
Adebola Williams is an embodiment of the difference we can all make in the world and I am inspired by his contribution not only to the African continent but to the world at large.
In this despair lies several opportunities. Especially to be pioneers, especially to be great.
You can watch his speech a the summit below.
