Spotlight: Hear The Hijab (The Pressures) by Hafsah Dabiri and Sawda Onanuga

Hafsah Dabiri and Sawda Onanuga are two fabulous Black Muslim YouTubers who have just started a new series on YouTube titled ‘Hear The Hijab.’ The series provides a platform for people to hear the perspectives of Muslim women on discussions pertaining to them which is often exclusionary.

After watching the pilot video, I have to say I am really excited for the series and it’s unlike any that I have seen on YouTube so far. The discussions are balanced and measured, seamlessly weaving Islamic knowledge and wisdom into the content. In the video below, both Sawda and Hafsah touch upon the pressures that Muslim women who wear Hijab face, Haram police and the etiquette of giving advice as inspired by the Sunnah of our Prophet SAW.

I’m definitely looking forward to more videos in this series! And what a fabulous name for it too. Check out the video below and let me know your thoughts.
