Recap: The Sassy Scholar by Anu Oladapo

This month, I had the pleasure of delivering a workshop on self-care for students at The Sassy Scholar event as well as being a panellist alongside Nissy Tee, Rachel Ohwin and Jacque Onalo.

Credit to Anu Oladapo for organising a much-needed event and providing the space for women to come together, share and learn from each other. Her presentation on identity and the villains that we battle in our journeys such as comparison, fear of failure and self-doubt resonated with me because I have had to work progressively on a lot of these things.

“It’s like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that.” – Patrick Rothfuss

It was great to see everyone assess their journey and share with honesty and openness. The session on self-confidence was truly inspiring and Jacque Onalo just took my breath away with her presentation! What a privilege to have listened to her speak and hear about her journey. As always, below are some gems from the event.

Arrogance says look at me, Confidence says learn from me.
No one will beat your drum for you and if they beat it for you it might not be your drum.
If you let the world define you people will bury you.
God has made no mistake with you.
Failure is not a tattoo, it’s a bruise.
