Salaam Alaikum Everyone,
Alhamdulillah we’ve made it to another Friday! This week my Friday Gratitude is on my mother. Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone that commented under last week’s post. I really appreciate your prayers. A few hours after publishing the post on Friday I found out that I had Chickenpox! It crossed my mind initially on Thursday when the aggressive itching started alongside the bumps but then I ruled it out because I thought “I’ve already had chickenpox in Nigeria so I can’t possibly get it twice”. Well, guess what? You absolutely can! But of course my mum being a super -woman (as all our mums are) was there to my rescue with calamine lotion in the first few days when the itching was bad and I had to stay at home to avoid infecting others. But I’m finally free Alhamdulillah. All of a sudden I started taking my vitamins, black seed oil, spinach drinks everything that I was usually lazy with, I was back to eagerly. And I can’t describe the feeling of elation when I went for my daily walk on Thursday. A day before I got Chickenpox I bought new trainers and I was super excited to wear it for my walk then boom, I had to stay at home so I was happy to break them in!
Back tp my mum, the love and selflessness of our mothers genuinely amazes me all the time and the depth of their love is truly on another scale. Without a doubt, it is one of the miracles and gifts of Allah. Sometimes I reflect on the mercy that Allah has placed in the hearts of mothers and then on the hadith below and it blows my mind every single time.
Narrated By Abu Huraira : I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, Allah divided Mercy into one-hundred parts and He kept its ninety-nine parts with Him and sent down its one part on the earth, and because of that, it’s one single part, His creations are Merciful to each other, so that even the mare lifts up its hoofs away from its baby animal, lest it should trample on it.” – Sahih Bukhari.
Being a mum is a thankless job and so the best we can do is to always show our appreciation and remember them in our duas.
‘And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor] – Qur’an 14:7
Hope you’ve all had a great week!
